It was just five rooms of Clapboard walls,
Sitting on a hill back from the road.
Wasn't too much to look at a'tall,
Just an old unpainted house with love by the load.
. . . . . . That was Bom's House
Didn't seem to have too much, but enough for all;
Don't ever remember missing a meal or going without,
Cause there was always preserves or other things about,
Cornbread, beans and milk; you got full as a tick
. . . . . . . That was Bom's House
She could break a peppermint stick with ease and care
Or divide a watermelon with each getting his share.
You had to practice the golden rule to stay under her roof,
But strictness was tempered with love and reproof
. . . . . . . . At Bom's House
How precious the memories in the years gone by;
It seems only yesterday as we look back over the tide.
She always had some saying to help you through life,
Words of wisdom that would save you from strife
. . . . . . . . .At Bom's House
So much more could be said, tho the words may not rhyme
To thank those who made it possible at this time.
Thank you Aunt Mattie, Aunt Pearl, Uncle Bud and Uncle Otis
Lest we forget the others unnoticed
. . . . . . . . . At Bom's House
Uncle Spence, Aunt Ruby, and Aunt Blanche, Aunt Norvell
Uncle Doc, Aunt Tiny, Uncle Simon and Uncle George,
You've all played and played it so well,
To see to it we had this beautiful story to tell
. . . . . . . . . About Bom's House.
We look now at another future as we face the setting sun
Hoping we've contributed to others when our race is run,
And we view a city yonder not made by man
Where there's love, joy & peace is that promised land
. . . . . . . . . Like At Bom's House.
Let's prepare for the great reunion with all up there
In that home that's promised us filled with His care
She'll be there to welcome us to her new home,
From all those shores; never more to roam
. . . . . . . . . We'll Be At Bom's House.
At Bom's House
